Why FORTA
We read the one-star reviews so you don't have to live them. Every FORTA decision answers a real frustration with today's sensors.
Thread mesh with resilient rejoin — if it ever drops, it reconnects on its own. No factory resets, no rebuilding all your automations.
The problem it solves: sensors vanishing from Apple Home every few months.
Scan the code, name the door, done — straight in Apple Home. Your HomePod or Apple TV you already own is the hub.
The problem it solves: paying for — and plugging in — another bridge box.
A full year on one replaceable cell, with a low-battery warning weeks ahead. Swap it in seconds — no re-pairing, ever.
The problem it solves: dead-on-arrival batteries and sensors that go silent.
Door opens at 2 a.m.? Lights on, phone buzzes, hub announces it. Set it once in Apple Home — FORTA handles the rest.
The problem it solves: alerts that arrive late, or not at all.
In the moment
Keep scrolling — the door is about to open.
01 — Watching
The sensor sits on the frame, the magnet on the door — almost touching, drawing almost nothing. A full year on one battery, quietly watching the line between inside and out.
02 — The moment
The instant the magnet moves, FORTA fires over the Thread mesh — a push to your phone, a chime on your hub, and your automations wake up: hallway lights on, before you've even sat up.
03 — Always
If the connection ever drops, FORTA rejoins on its own — no factory reset, no re-pairing, no rebuilding your automations. That's the whole idea: a sensor you install once, and then forget exists.
Day and night
Not in the morning from a log file — in the moment. A push to your phone, a chime on your hub, and the hallway lights already on.
Open Apple Home from anywhere: All Secure. No feeds to scrub, no guessing.

How it works
No tools. No wiring. No new app to learn.
Peel, place the sensor on the frame and the magnet on the door or window. The slim profile fits most frames without drilling.
Open the Home app, scan the Matter code on the sensor, and name it — “Front Door.” That’s the entire setup.
Add an automation if you like — lights on when a door opens after dark — or just enjoy the quiet confidence of “All Secure.”
Questions
No separate FORTA hub. Like other Thread devices, it needs a Thread border router — which you likely already own: a HomePod (2nd gen), HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K. Pairing and control happen entirely in Apple Home.
Yes. FORTA is designed for Apple Home, so its status shows wherever Apple Home does — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and your home hub. An open door triggers notifications and can be announced by HomePod.
FORTA targets 12 months on the included CR2450 under typical use (a busy front door opening many times a day will use more). Apple Home shows battery level, and FORTA warns you weeks before it runs low. Swapping the cell takes seconds and never requires re-pairing.
FORTA talks over Thread, not Wi-Fi — a local mesh between your devices and your Apple hub. Local alerts and automations (like turning lights on) keep working on your home network even if your internet drops. Remote notifications need internet, like any smart-home product.
Yes — any door, window, sliding door, or gate where the two pieces can sit within about 15 mm of each other when closed. Many owners also put one on a garage side door or a medicine cabinet.
No. You pay $24.99 once. Alerts, history in Apple Home, and automations are part of Apple Home — FORTA charges nothing monthly and shows no ads.
